This epic five-star journey by rail and air delivers adventure, style, breathtaking scenery and optimum comfort as you traverse the African continent in 34 days! The historically linked cities of Cape Town and Cairo are joined together by Rovos rail’s trans-African safari - the ultimate African which includes the incomparable luxury of the Pride of Africa and a comfortable aircraft.

 

This African expedition carries an exclusive band of intrepid adventurers through the heartlands of South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda, the Sudan and Egypt. Your sojourn commences with a luxurious Rovos Rail train journey from Cape Town to the majestic Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. From here, continue through Zambia to Tanzania, and fly to Zanizbar for a two night stop-over in this tropical island paradise. Thereafter travel by air into the heartland of Tanzania where a four day visit to the Ngorongoro crater and the Serengeti await you.

 

Continue onto Entebbe, Uganda for a visit with chimpanzees. Your journey then follows the Nile northwards to Khartoum in the Sudan and to Abu Simbel in Egypt. A luxurious lake cruiser takes you in a leisurely fashion over 3 nights to see the historical sights on the shores of Lake Nasser. Then it’s onto Luxor for 2 nights to experience ancient Egypt in all its splendor as you visit temples, quarries and the valley of kings and queens.

 

Rejoin the aircraft for the last leg to Cairo where your adventure ends as you tour the pyramids, sphinx and the Egyptian museum of antiquities from the exquisite Four Seasons First Residence hotel.
